Summary

"Sir George Tressady — Volume I" by Mrs. Humphry Ward is a tale set in late 1800s England that looks at how a newly elected Member of Parliament juggles his dreams, relationships, and family's expectations. Sir George Tressady wins his election by a small margin and faces immediate discontent from miners, highlighting problems between social classes. Welcomed home with fanfare, the seeds of future problems are already planted. As he starts to fall for the delightful Letty Sewell, their bond is threatened by social pressure. How George deals with his career and love life after talking to his friend Lord Fontenoy will decide what happens next.
