The River Motor Boat Boys on the Mississippi; Or, On the Trail to the Gulf

"The River Motor Boat Boys on the Mississippi; Or, On the Trail to the Gulf" by Harry Gordon is an adventure story about a group of boys who travel down the Mississippi River on their motor boat called the Rambler. The boys, along with their pets, face many problems on their journey, including meeting suspicious people and finding a runaway boy. At the beginning, the boys, Alex and Clayton, are making food on the Rambler with their bulldog, Captain Joe, and a bear cub, Teddy, when a riverman warns them about how dangerous the river is. Showing how brave they are, the boys ignore the warning and start their trip. Soon after, a boy who ran away asks for their help, which lets the reader know that the rest of the story will be full of adventure, friendship, comedy, and mystery as the boys travel down the river and face different things along the way.
