Summary

** "Seekers after God" by F. W. Farrar, explores the life and times of the Roman philosopher Seneca, examining his philosophical growth and the societal landscape of his era, notably concerning the rise of Christianity. It begins by grounding readers in the history of Seneca, from his family's origins and relocation to Rome to the profound influence of his mother. The book then brings attention to Seneca's early health struggles and introduces key family members, paving the way for an examination of his philosophical path. The narrative highlights the sharp differences between Seneca's moral principles and the pervasive corruption of Roman society, prompting readers to consider how a man so committed to the pursuit of knowledge and virtue navigated the complex and dangerous world of Roman politics while searching for deeper spiritual understanding. **
