The Nightriders' Feud

"The Nightriders' Feud" by Walter Caruth McConnell is a story set in the Kentucky wilderness where John Redmond, a young engineer, dreams of adventure but instead finds himself driven by revenge. When Redmond learns of his uncle's murder at the hands of the Nightriders, he assumes the alias Jack Wade and heads to Kentucky to reclaim his uncle's land and avenge his death. The story quickly takes the reader from Redmond's expectations of wealth to the tragic news of his uncle's death and his desire for justice. Taking up residence in Kentucky, he meets and develops a relationship with Nora Judson amid the growing threat from the Nightriders which creates a backdrop against tough conflict and raising questions about justice, honor, and community in a place without laws.
