Summary

** "Old Gorgon Graham" by George Horace Lorimer is a series of letters penned in the early 1900s, where John Graham, a prosperous Chicago pork packer, imparts his business knowledge to his son, Pierrepont, who is starting out in the family enterprise. The letters provide lessons on business ethics, family matters, and self-improvement, offering a mix of comedy and sage counsel. The narrative begins energetically as John Graham chats with Pierrepont blending parental guidance with honest reflections on business and life. Graham emphasizes the importance of diligent work and earning recognition, warning against favoritism and the dangers of depending too much on family ties. Covering subjects from handling job duties to managing personal relationships, Graham's engaging stories and blunt approach showcase his personality as both a teacher and a dedicated father, setting up a tale filled with applicable knowledge that echoes through time. **
