"Zarlah the Martian" by R. Norman Grisewood is a science fiction story set in the early 1900s. The book tells of Harold Lonsdale, a scientist in Paris, who stumbles upon a way to talk to Mars during his experiments. He then gets in touch with a Martian named Almos. Almos then tells him of the Martian society through the most recent scientific findings. He learns of the progress of Martian civilization through Almos. Lonsdale goes from being a lonely scientist to someone connecting with beings from another planet.
