Summary

"Another World: Fragments from the Star City of Montalluyah" by Benjamin Lumley is a science fiction story about a civilization that lives in an advanced world named Montalluyah, inhabited by humans much like those found on Earth. Beginning in the 1800's, the story follows Tootmanyoso, the son of a king who later becomes the supreme ruler, who wants to make the world better. Tootmanyoso is committed to knowledge and to the well-being of his society; he makes sure to introduce a new way of thinking that focuses on stopping problems before they start and helping people reach their full potential. He reflects on suffering, greed, disease, and inequality, and wants to use his new-found wisdom to improve the government and the world. Through his journey, he works to create a society where people are paired with their talents, which will bring Montalluyah to peace and prosperity.
