Summary

"The Secret of the Ninth Planet" by Donald A. Wollheim is a science fiction novel that tells the story of Burl Denning, a young explorer on an Inca treasure hunt in the Andes, who finds himself at the heart of a worldwide disaster—the Earth's sunlight is vanishing. The tale blends elements of exploration and adventure with the profound consequences of advanced technology, all within a cosmic setting. As Burl and his team observe the strange dimming of the sun, they're summoned by the U.S. Air Force, who recognizes them as the nearest experts to the phenomenon. Drawn into a perilous quest to find the source, they discover a mysterious black structure hidden in a remote valley. Suspecting an alien plot to steal the Sun's energy, their discovery launches them on an interplanetary journey with the fate of the world hanging in the balance.
