Summary

"Zanoni" by Edward Bulwer Lytton is a story full of mystery where the main character, Zanoni, lives forever and has amazing abilities. Living forever isn't easy though. The book looks at Zanoni's problems along with regular human feelings like love and sadness. The story begins with Gaetano Pisani, a musician in Naples with a gift, although people don't appreciate him as much as they should. He's married to an Englishwoman, and they have a daughter named Viola, who is set to become a famous singer. Viola is very beautiful and seems almost magical, influenced by her father's music and old superstitions. As the story goes on, there are hints that Zanoni and Viola will fall in love, which could lead to problems between Zanoni's immortal life and the normal world.
