Summary

"The Forsyte Saga - Complete" by John Galsworthy is a story set in England during the late 1800s and early 1900s, revolving around the wealthy Forsyte family and tackling themes of wealth, reputation, and how people connect with each other, mainly following old Jolyon Forsyte and his granddaughter June. The saga starts with a Forsyte family get-together at old Jolyon's place to celebrate June's engagement to Philip Bosinney, an architect. The year is 1886, and the air feels uneasy as family members show how important it is for them to look proper and keep up appearances. Through this party, the story looks at how the family members relate to each other, showing feelings of suspicion and rivalry, while dropping hints about the problems that will grow around June's love choices and the bigger fights caused by love and strong wants against the background of money and social expectations.
