Summary

"The Mob: A Play in Four Acts" by John Galsworthy is a play set during a period of conflict. Stephen More, a politician, faces a tough choice concerning a war, which creates big issues for his family and community. The first scene shows a lively dinner discussion with Stephen, his wife Katherine, and others debating what's right and wrong about fighting. They argue about national pride and the moral problems of war, pointing out the conflict between what someone believes and what they have to do for their country. Stephen is getting ready to speak out against the war, but his strong view makes those close to him upset. Katherine worries about what will happen to their family if he doesn't change his position. As the story unfolds, it's a mix of judging society, staying loyal to family, and fighting to be true to yourself when everyone else is shouting.
