Summary

"A Short History of the Norman Conquest of England" by Edward A. Freeman is a historical exploration of Duke William of Normandy’s invasion of England in the 11th century and what happened after. The story explains how this conquest greatly changed England's society and government. It starts by showing how different the English and Norman cultures were before the invasion, setting the scene for the conflicts that followed. The story gives a deep understanding into how those early clashes shaped English identity and politics for years to come.
