Summary

"Jonah's Luck" by Fergus Hume is a mystery novel set in the grim Essex marshes, centered around Angus Herries, a luckless young man whose world turns upside down after checking into a dreary inn. Herries’s stay at "The Marsh Inn" quickly evolves into a nightmare when a nearby man is murdered, and all evidence points to him. The misfortune starts when a bloodied razor and the key to the deceased’s room are discovered, placing him as the prime suspect. Accusations and suspicion surround him, forcing Herries to embark on proving his innocence. He navigates through a web of deceit and attempts to show his innocence, while dealing with his own internal turmoil and striving to change his label of “unlucky.”
