Summary

"Si Klegg, Complete, Books 1-6" by John McElroy, is a story set during the American Civil War that tells about Josiah “Si” Klegg, a young man that joins the Union Army and becomes a soldier. It shows how Si changes from someone new to the army to someone who knows what they are doing. You will learn about friendship, what it was like in the army, and how hard it was for the soldiers through Si and his friend, Shorty. In the beginning, Si is getting ready to leave home to fight. His family is very supportive and helps him get ready. He puts things like clothes and a lock of hair from Annabel in his bag. As Si starts his adventure, he notices things and has funny experiences that shows the reader both the hopes of new soldiers and the tough things they will have to face. The start of the book makes Si seem like a nice person while also hinting at the difficult times he will have in the army.
