Summary

"White Spot" by Murray Leinster is a sci-fi story set in the 1950s about the crew of the spaceship "Danaë", who find themselves stranded on a strange planet after their ship breaks down. The story is about survival and what happens when we meet the unknown, and it shows how different life forms can interact. The main plot is about a very dangerous thing living on the planet. After being attacked by a heat ray from a white spot on the planet, the crew has to survive and figure out that the spot is a deadly, smart creature that destroyed an entire civilization. The crew races against time, using their skills to trick and finally destroy the creature before it kills them. And they have to deal with a crew member names Sattell, who doesn't agree and has his own plan. The climax is a big fight with the creature, where the crew uses clever plans to beat the alien and escape the planet.
