Summary

"The Day of the Beast" by Zane Grey is a story that takes place after World War I and follows Daren Lane, a soldier trying to find his place back home. Daren, along with his friends Blair Maynard and Red Payson, returns from the war hoping for a happy reunion, but they quickly realize that things have changed while they were away. The story shows how hard it is for Daren to deal with the emotional and physical scars from the war and how disconnected he feels from his old life. He faces challenges as he tries to reconnect with his family and friends, all while dealing with the fact that his hometown has moved on without him, diving deep into themes of sacrifice, longing, and the often difficult reality of coming home after war.
