Mildred at Roselands A Sequel to Mildred Keith

"Mildred at Roselands" by Martha Finley is a continuation of Mildred Keith's story, following her journey to Roselands, the Dinsmore family's Southern estate. After a difficult summer, Mildred's health concerns prompt her uncle, Mr. Dinsmore, to extend an invitation for her to recover in the warmer climate of Roselands. This offer presents Mildred with a blend of excitement and apprehension as she prepares to leave her family. The story examines themes of personal development, the conflict between living a good life versus enjoying what the world has to offer, and the difficulties of finding her place in a new social environment. The novel opens with a focus on family love and sets the stage for Mildred's experiences as she faces temptations and navigates the expectations of her new life among the Dinsmores.
