Shock Troop

"Shock Troop" by Richard Bolton is a funny science fiction tale from the mid-1900s. The story is about some alien invaders whose big plans go wrong when they try to take over a planet full of smart mammals. The book has a light tone and uses funny misunderstandings and surprising reactions from the aliens and the mammals. We follow Zurg, the head of the alien army, as he tries to invade this green planet. His plan is to scare the creatures with a mental attack. But when Zurg and his crew show up, the locals get excited and start celebrating instead of running away. The commander quickly sees that his shock tactic didn't work at all. They try to fix things by doing their scary Dra dance, but it just makes the situation even more ridiculous. In the end, their invasion turns into a strange and funny show that the locals love, instead of being afraid.
