Summary

"Winsome Winnie and Other New Nonsense Novels" by Stephen Leacock is a compilation of amusing stories from the beginning of the 1900s, starting with Winnifred Clair, a young and innocent woman who must figure out life after her lawyer kicks her out on her 21st birthday; she learns she's broke and doesn't have any family. Her adventures start when she meets odd characters and even escapes a bad lord's attempt to harm her. At the beginning, she's just turning 21 and finds out she has no money left after her guardian tells her all her inheritance is gone. While she's dealing with this, she runs into the wicked Lord Wynchgate, who tries to kidnap her, but a mysterious guy saves her, leading to a series of funny and wild events. The book mixes jokes with thoughts about society, suggesting more funny mishaps and a bit of romance.
