Summary

"Darkness and Dawn; Or, Scenes in the Days of Nero. An Historic Tale" by F. W. Farrar is a historical fiction story taking place in the dangerous times of Nero's Roman Empire, where power and desire clash with the beginnings of Christianity. The story plunges into the world of Agrippina, Nero's mother, as she plots to put her son on the throne through the complex political landscape of the emperor's court. The story begins in Caesar's grand palace, filled with dark secrets, and Agrippina is shown as a strong, ambitious woman whose family history and marriage to Emperor Claudius motivates her. The story hints at her manipulative nature as she plans her son Nero's rise to power, and shows how she sees crime as an option to get ahead. This sets the stage for a story of personal greed and historical events.
