Summary

"The Grim House" by Mrs. Molesworth is a novel set in the early 20th century that weaves a tale of mystery and self-discovery, primarily through the experiences of Regina Fitzmaurice. Regina's journey begins as her family relocates to a German spa, a move undertaken for her mother's health. It's here that she encounters Isabel Wynyard, a young woman whose stories spark Regina's fascination with the secluded and enigmatic Grim House and the tragic history that shrouds its inhabitants. An intriguing encounter with a young man connected to the Grim House only deepens Regina's curiosity, drawing her into a web of family secrets and personal exploration where her own identity becomes intertwined with the mystery of the household's past.
