Summary

"You Should Worry Says John Henry" by George V. Hobart is a funny story from the early 1900s. The book's subject, John Henry, gets into all sorts of funny troubles, often involving his friends and family. The jokes and funny times show how the author makes fun of normal social life, relationships, and the confusing parts of everyday life. The story kicks off with John Henry and his buddy Bunch Jefferson trying to learn the Tango to look cool, even though they have no idea what they're doing. Their plan gets even funnier as they get ready for a party, hoping to teach their friends the dance. The funny talks between husbands and wives, and the people they meet, show the fun and silliness of their group, which sets the scene for even more craziness. This funny look at how couples act and the people they meet gives us a peek at how the book will explore what society expects and the funny problems of love.

About the Author

At the time of his death, Hobart was "one of America's most popular humorists and playwrights". Hobart gained initial national fame for the "Dinkelspiel" letters, a weekly satirical column written in a German-American dialect. The Library of Congress includes several of his songs in the National Jukebox.
