Summary

"The Blunders of a Bashful Man" by Metta Victoria Fuller Victor is a funny story from the 1800s about John Flutter, a super shy guy whose bashfulness gets him into all sorts of trouble. The book tells us about John's many awkward moments, especially when he tries to make friends or find love. From the very beginning, we see how tough it is for John at a picnic, where he really wants to impress Belle Marigold. But, because he's so nervous, he messes everything up: he trips while helping Belle and even falls into a pond! All of these things happen to John in a town called Babbletown, making the story both funny and relatable, since we get to see him deal with his worries, his crushes, and all the embarrassing things he does without meaning to.
