"Motor Matt's Mandarin; or, Turning a Trick for Tsan Ti" by Stanley R. Matthews is an early 20th-century adventure where Matt King, or Motor Matt, and his pal Joe McGlory get tangled up in a quest for the mystical Eye of Buddha and a mandarin named Tsan Ti. The story kicks off with Matt and Joe speeding down a tricky mountain road, answering a call for help from Tsan Ti. They soon find out about a stolen ruby that could cost Tsan Ti his life if it's not found in two weeks.
