Summary

"Aunt Jo's Scrap-Bag, Volume 4" By Louisa May Alcott is a compilation of stories from the past that showcases the endeavors of young women navigating a transforming world. The book paints pictures of women in the 1800s and their various paths: some become doctors, others make art or do charity work. The opening of the book shows six amazing young women, who each have toughness and goals in a world that sometimes tries to hold them back. One becomes a doctor, even though that was uncommon for women back then, and another becomes an artist in Europe. Alcott's writing shows how much she likes these characters, and it teaches lessons of strength and never giving up, which makes the book inspiring.
