Desert Love

"Desert Love" by Joan Conquest is a story about Jill Carden, a young Englishwoman who seeks adventure and real love in Egypt. Having lost her privileged life, Jill wants to find something more meaningful than what she had before. At the beginning, she's in Ismailiah, Egypt, watching the bustling life around her, including women in traditional clothing and British soldiers.
