Summary

"The Rasp" by Philip MacDonald is a suspenseful mystery that starts with the shocking murder of a cabinet minister named John Hoode. Spencer Hastings, who is the editor of "The Owl," finds himself caught in the middle of the investigation with his quick-thinking secretary, Margaret Warren. They team up with Anthony Gethryn, a man with special skills that no one else has. They try to find out who killed the minister. The story kicks off on a very busy Thursday night at "The Owl". Hastings and Warren have to put together a special newspaper edition right after they learn about the murder. As they start looking into the crime, they quickly see how complex the case is because so many people are involved. Everyone from family to guests were staying at the minister’s country house.
