Summary

"Johnny Ludlow, Sixth Series" by Mrs. Henry Wood is a collection of connected stories set in the late 1800s, featuring the observant Johnny Ludlow as he gets caught up in the dramas of his town. At the start, a dark mystery grips the community after a young maid, Jane Cross, tragically falls to her death, with whispers of foul play swirling about. Soon, Johnny and the Squire find themselves visiting another family, but discover a web of hidden stories connected to their new neighbors. He is forced to decipher the strange behavior of Matilda, who is clearly troubled by something, and untangle rumors about a milkman named Owen, who some believe is connected to the recent tragedy.
