Summary

"Araminta" by J. C. Snaith is a story from the 1900's that kicks off as Caroline Crewkerne, a tough old woman, gets ready for her seventy-fourth birthday bash, surrounded by some pretty strange people and social drama. As things get going, we meet her niece, Araminta, who might just shake up Caroline's perfectly planned life. We get to know Caroline, who's funny but also grumpy, and as she thinks about what makes her unhappy, she can't help but wonder about Araminta, who's about to walk into a family that's both funny and a bit of a mess. When Araminta shows up in an odd outfit, it sets a fun mood for the story and highlights how silly class differences can be and how families can clash. Now that the stage is set we will see conflicts and funny moments pop up as Araminta throws a wrench into Caroline's routine.
