"Led Astray and The Sphinx" by Octave Feuillet is a story from the end of the 1800s focused on romance and how people fit into society. It is mostly told through one character, a man who is surrounded by the lovely country and parties of France. We meet him as he enjoys being alone in a small village, thinking deeply while researching Rozel Abbey. His peaceful time is interrupted when he meets people living nearby, like a strange miller and his wife. Things get even more interesting when a wild hunt passes by, led by the lively Madame de Palme, who makes him curious and maybe causes trouble; this all leads to a fun but complicated study of personal relationships and what is expected in society, promising funny and possibly romantic times ahead.
