Summary

"King Matthias and the Beggar Boy" by Miklós Jósika is a historical adventure where a simple beggar boy named Miska unexpectedly crosses paths with the progressive King Matthias. Miska's ordinary life transforms when he is given a secret task by the king: to explore the mysteries surrounding a dark castle owned by the shady Mr. Samson. This mission pulls Miska into a world of secrets and risks, as the king tasks him to uncover the Mr’s hidden agenda amid rumors of darkness and an increasingly lawless land. This unlikely alliance sets the stage for a story of daring discovery, danger, and the promise of a new life for a boy caught in the middle of a high-stakes game.
