Summary

"The Lost Prince" by Frances Hodgson Burnett is a story set in the early 1900s about a young boy, Marco Loristan, who lives a secretive life with his father, an exile from the troubled nation of Samavia. Settling in London, Marco struggles with feeling alone and misses his homeland, all while learning about the legend of Prince Ivor, a royal who disappeared long ago. The story begins with Marco reflecting on their life as exiles, living in secret and devoted to their country, guided by his father and their loyal servant, Lazarus. Marco's longing for home is deepened when they move to a poor part of London where he becomes friends with The Rat, a boy who leads a group of street kids interested in Samavia. Together, they explore the tale of Prince Ivor, sparking Marco’s hopes that he might have a grand destiny connected to the lost prince and a chance to reclaim what was lost in their homeland. The book weaves ideas of friendship, devotion, and the search for what is right into an action-packed adventure.
