Summary

"Sara Crewe; Or, What Happened at Miss Minchin's" by Frances Hodgson Burnett is a story set in the late 1800's that follows Sara Crewe, a young girl who is sent to Miss Minchin's boarding school after her father returns to India. The story shows Sara dealing with loss and being lonely, but it also shows how strong and imaginative she is. At first, Sara is treated very well because she is rich, but everything changes when she finds out her father has died and she has lost all her money. This makes her a servant who is made fun of. Even though things are hard, Sara keeps her head up and uses her imagination to make things better, holding onto the idea that things will get better one day, which sets the stage for a story of being strong and changing for the better.
