Summary

"The Four Corners of the World" by A. E. W. Mason is an early 20th-century novel that mixes mystery and drama, focusing on tricky relationships clouded by serious events. The story suggests ideas like strong desires, envy, and possibly disloyalty, as characters deal with their connections during worrying times. The book starts with Mr. Twiss, a lawyer, who is worried about his client Archie Cranfield, who is now known for living alone far away from others. After something weird happens with Captain Brayton, a friend of Cranfield, the story gets more complicated when Brayton dies mysteriously, leading to a tangled mess of relationships and guesses. Twiss gets even more worried when he gets a message from Cranfield asking for quick help, making him go back to the scary house. Things get more intense when Cranfield is found dead, and the reasons behind what happened to him are not clear, setting up an exciting story full of suspense.
