"The Pressing Peril; Or, Nick Carter and the Star Looters" by Nicholas (House name) Carter, is a detective story about the legendary New York detective, Nick Carter, who gets involved in a perplexing case of kidnapping soon after meeting Lord Waldmere, who is in despair over the mysterious disappearance of his American wife, Lady Waldmere. The victim was seemingly abducted under strange conditions, which causes Nick to explore a possible crime related to a recent visit to a loan company. Nick now begins a search to solve the mystery and save Lady Waldmere from an evil plot of deception.
