Summary

"Aquarium" by Harold Acton is a compilation of poetry from the 1920s that examines beauty, life, and what it means to be human using descriptive pictures painted with words. With a modern feel, the poems investigate the intricacies of city and country environments. The collection is split into two segments: "Curves" and "Urbanities." "Curves" presents themes ranging from lively underwater scenes in the poem "Aquarium" to thoughtful considerations of youth and longing in "Night of Adolescence". Poems such as "Sabbath Morning Rain" and "Mr. Bedlam’s Sunday Breakfast" depict city life, filled with ordinary and deep observations. Acton's skill captures the heart of the ups and downs of human life through feelings and imagery, making the collection interesting for people who love poetry.
