Summary

"Penny Nichols and the Black Imp" by Joan Clark is an early 1900s-era mystery about a young girl named Penny Nichols and her friend Susan who get mixed up in an art-related mystery. The story kicks off when they go to an art show where a prize will be given out. They run into a grumpy driver named Hanley Cron, who turns to out to be the judge. The sculptor, Amy Coulter, is very upset when the "Black Imp" statue, doesn't win, and things get even worse when a famous painting is stolen. Because of some clues, the police think Amy did it, so Penny decides to investigate. The reader will follow Penny as she looks into what really happened, exploring the art world and meeting new characters, and trying to figure out who really stole the painting and why.
