Summary

"The Prolongation of Life: Optimistic Studies" by Élie Metchnikoff is a science book from the early 1900s that thinks about getting older and living longer. It talks about the science behind why we age and suggests ways to fight the bad effects of aging. Metchnikoff, a well-known biologist, believes that science can help us live longer and be healthier. The book starts by looking at how people think about old age and how societies have treated older people, from hurting them to ignoring them. Metchnikoff says we should use science and take steps to prevent aging problems. He believes that many aging issues come from things outside our bodies that we can control. He hopes that future people can live longer, healthier lives by understanding what causes aging and making smart choices about their health and what they eat.
