Summary

"The Dorrington Deed-Box" by Arthur Morrison is a story set in late 19th-century England, narrated by Mr. James Rigby, who returns from Australia to find himself caught in the shadows of his father's unsolved murder. Rigby's new life is quickly complicated by unsettling events that suggest a connection to his family's dark past. He seeks a fresh beginning as an artist. This pursuit is overshadowed by a sense of being watched, bringing back the haunting memories of his father's killing. Amidst this turmoil, he meets Horace Dorrington, a charming character whose motives are unclear, deepening the mystery as Rigby navigates his return and the looming dangers tied to his heritage, all wrapped in a tone of mystery and anticipation.
