"The World English Bible (WEB): Esther" by Anonymous is an ancient religious story of a Jewish orphan named Esther, who rises to become queen to save her people in Persia. Esther is chosen from the women in the kingdom to replace Queen Vashti, who angered the king. Meanwhile, a wicked royal official named Haman hatches a plan to wipe out all the Jews because Mordecai, Esther's cousin, wouldn't bow to him. Risking her life, Esther reveals her Jewish identity to the king and exposes Haman's evil plot. In a twist of justice, Haman is punished instead, like he wanted to punish the Jews, and the Jewish people are saved. They then set up the festival of Purim to remember their rescue; the story highlights bravery, belief, and the idea that fate is controlled by god.
