Man and Maid

"Man and Maid" by E. Nesbit is a story set in the early 1900s that follows Lawrence Sefton after he receives an unexpected inheritance from his great-uncle, which dramatically changes his life. Leaving his cycling tour behind, Lawrence returns home to deal with the inheritance, which requires him to visit the rumored-to-be-haunted Sefton Manor with his cousin Selwyn, so they can decide who will keep the estate.
