Summary

"The Agony of the Church" by Nikolaj Velimirović is a serious look at the Church's place in the world, especially during and after World War I. It talks about how the Church should act in a world that's becoming less religious, and it questions the Church's involvement with things like nationalism and powerful empires. Velimirović believes the Church should go back to a more loving and spiritual form of Christianity that brings people together instead of dividing them. The book starts by comparing the true Church of Christ with the churches that exist today, focusing on the importance of unity among all Christians. He believes Christianity shouldn't just follow political trends but should work to make life better for everyone, exploring what it means to have faith and how the Church can encourage love and sacrifice.
