Summary

"Saint Michael: A Romance" by E. Werner is a tale from long ago that looks at tough issues like family secrets and what we leave behind when we're gone. It mainly follows Michael, who's the Count's grandson but not seen as equal because of his parents. The book talks a lot about love, sadness, and figuring out who you are, as Michael deals with how his mom's choices changed everything for him. Right from the start, someone in the family dies, making everyone feel heavy and showing how the past can weigh you down. The Count has to deal with his family's reputation and remembers his daughter, Louise, who caused trouble. Michael is a complicated person who grew up alone and not well-treated, showing how hard it is to be rejected by your own family. When the Count and a priest talk, you can tell they don't like Michael, even though he really wants to be accepted and treated fairly. This gives you a hint that he's going to go on a big journey to find his place.
