Summary

"When Sarah Saved the Day" by Elsie Singmaster is a story from way back when that is set in a close-knit Pennsylvania German town, and it follows Sarah Wenner, a young girl who steps up after her father dies. Sarah, being the oldest, suddenly has to look after her brothers and sisters while dealing with problems within her family, especially her uncle who wants their farm. Right from the start, we see how Sarah, who is only fifteen, takes on the heavy job of caring for her family after her father's death. As things get tense with her Uncle Daniel over what will happen to the farm, Sarah shows how strong she is in wanting to keep her family together and safe. Through her talks with family, Sarah's story becomes a powerful tale of strength and the hard times a young girl faces as she tries to handle grown-up responsibilities when things are tough. The story gets ready to follow Sarah as she faces family betrayals and fights for her place and her family's future.
