Sunny Slopes

"Sunny Slopes" by Ethel Hueston is a story from the early 1900's about a young couple, David and Carol Duke, starting out their married life. The book shows how they deal with the good and bad parts of being a minister and his wife in a Presbyterian church. The story looks at love, wanting to do well, and how their young excitement clashes with what they have to do as a couple. Right at the start, we see Carol and David full of happiness and love as they celebrate being married. They play tennis together, showing how much they care for each other, and talk about what they hope for as they move into their new home. As they get used to their new life, it’s not easy to get the church to accept them and to do what's expected of them, which sets up the challenges they will face. The story combines romance with the struggles of being in the ministry.
