The story revolves around Fido, a dog with a big heart, who is completely gone for Tittums, a tortoiseshell cat. When a colorful parrot named Mr. Paul arrives and wins Tittums over with fancy promises and adventure, Fido is crushed but tries to warn Tittums that the parrot isn't telling the truth. The story comes to a head when Tittums finds Mr. Paul trying to charm Widow Daw, revealing the parrot's two-faced nature.
