Summary

"Love of the Wild" by Archie P. McKishnie is a story set in the early 1900s, focusing on Boy McTavish, a young man whose heart belongs to the wilderness. As civilization pushes into Boy's world, marked by the arrival of a schoolteacher and the growth of settlements, he faces challenges to his way of life. His deep bond with the forest and its creatures is tested, and he watches nature's dramas play out learning about the circle of life. The presence of an imposing authority figure, Mr. Watson, further complicates matters for Boy, threatening his freedom and creating a sense of conflict. As relationships develop, particularly his affection for a girl named Gloss, his love for both her and the wild creates a dynamic between his heart and the only place he has ever known.
