Summary

"The History of Don Quixote, Volume 1, Part 17" by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra is a story about a nobleman who has lost his mind because of reading too many books about knights, and now wants to bring back those days of adventure. In this part, Don Quixote and a religious leader have a chat about whether knight stories are any good, with Don Quixote arguing that these stories are important for him improving his character. At the same time, his helper, Sancho Panza, has funny dreams of being in charge of an area, even though he is a commoner. The book also introduces a goat herder who suggests people can find wisdom through doing simple tasks, perhaps foreshadowing future adventures of the simple life.
