Summary

"The History of Don Quixote, Volume 1, Part 07" by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra is a tale from the early 1600s about a man who thinks he’s a knight, Don Quixote, and his down-to-earth sidekick, Sancho Panza. They travel around trying to be heroes, which usually ends up in funny and strange problems. This portion of the story begins with Sancho complaining to his “master” about a beating he took and Don Quixote, believing things are not always as they appear, promises revenge. Don Quixote sees an "army", which turns out to be just sheep. He charges bravely, thinking he's doing something amazing, but the shepherds just throw rocks at him. This part of the book makes you think about what's real and what's not, and it shows how Don Quixote’s ideas about being a knight can be kind of silly and crazy. It also shows how Don Quixote and Sancho are becoming better friends, even when things get really weird. Besides being funny, the story also has important ideas about being brave, what honor really means, and how we all see the world differently.
