Summary

"The Answer" by Emil Petaja is a chilling psychological horror story from the 1950s that pulls you into the mind of John Reeve, a man trapped in a nightmare. Plagued by recurring dreams where he strangles his wife, Lisa, and haunted by a relentlessly ringing telephone, John's reality blurs with his deepest fears. Driven by obsession and guilt over Lisa's sudden departure, John is forced to confront the turbulent past of their relationship. The story crescendos when John finally answers the phone, only to hear "Satan" on the other end, leaving the reader to question the nature of guilt and the darkest corners of human desire.
